This guide helps creators build YouTube short drama channels, standardize the publishing workflow, and continuously improve content performance through data. Common YouTube warnings fall into 3 categories: film/TV copyright, music copyright, and content health. Film/TV copyright:
  • Short drama videos can also be flagged by copyright detection. Every copyright issue must be handled, otherwise it affects YPP and, in severe cases, can get the channel banned.
  • Before appealing, set the video status to Unlisted, not Private — in Private status you cannot check whether the appeal succeeded.
  • Upload videos as drafts 1-2 days before publishing and watch the copyright and view status first; if the copyright issue is not cleared before publishing, replace the video or resolve it before publishing.
  • YouTube copyright review is strict, and an account cannot be allowlisted as a whole. When a single video hits a copyright issue, you can submit one unblocking questionnaire.
  • Add editing variation to short videos whenever possible; copyright issues on long videos are usually processed within 1-3 business days.
Music copyright:
  • When a music copyright notice appears, it is recommended to remove the background music.
  • Or replace it with YouTube’s royalty-free music to avoid violations caused by music copyright.
Content health:
  • Covers, topics, and visuals must not contain pornographic or violent content.
  • Complete the channel description and video descriptions to reduce the risk of misclassification.
Channel description and video descriptions: Include at least the following:
  1. Officially licensed; infringement will be pursued.
  2. The copyright holder’s name, such as the theater name.
  3. The channel type, such as male-oriented, female-oriented, sweet romance, time-travel, rebirth, etc.
  4. Fiction disclaimer: the plots on this channel are purely fictional and created for artistic purposes. The plots, characters, and events do not represent reality; viewers should watch rationally, and minors should watch with a parent or guardian.
Cover, title, and visual taboos:
  • Covers must not contain sexually suggestive or provocative imagery, such as caressing, kissing, nudity, or violence.
  • Do not use covers showing a shirtless male lead, explicit exposure, coercive or suggestive tones, revealing clothing on the female lead, or two people interacting in bed.
  • Titles must not contain sexually explicit or provocative content.
  • If a video contains explicit, sexually exploitative, coercive, or shirtless-male footage, mask or delete it before uploading.
  • Avoid using words like free or full series directly.
YouTube copyright is inherently strict, and accounts cannot be allowlisted as a whole, so every flagged video requires its own unblocking questionnaire. Try not to post short videos on YouTube: shorts barely convert and may not get copyright unblocked. Copyright issues on long videos are usually resolved within 1-3 business days after submission; if it stays unresolved, either it cannot be unblocked or the appeal was filled in incorrectly — do not resubmit repeatedly.

Notes for Promoting Specific Theaters on YouTube

  • KalosTV promotion on YouTube may only use dramas from the YouTube drama list.
  • When appealing a DramaBox ban on YouTube, set the video to Unlisted, not Private — in Private status you cannot check whether the unblock succeeded.
  • ShortMax does not distribute on YouTube; a separate application is required.
  • When Boost publishes to YouTube, only self-produced drama videos under one minute (Shorts) are allowed; otherwise you may hit copyright issues and get banned with no recourse.
  • MoboReels and SnackShort must not be published on YouTube.
